Aged Care Reforms are here: What’s changed for you?
The latest aged care reforms are now in effect, bringing significant changes to the way in home care is delivered. One of the biggest updates is the introduction of the Support at Home program, which replaces the previous Home Care Packages and Short-term Restorative Care programs.
We know these changes can feel overwhelming, but you’re not alone. Our team at Alpha Support at Home is here to guide you through this period, answer your questions, and help you feel confident about what’s new.
One of the most common questions we’ve received from our clients is “how has pricing changed under the new Aged Care Act 2024 for in home care services”?
Here’s a snapshot of what you need to know about the new changes in pricing.
Clearer pricing structure
From 1 November 2025, providers like Alpha Support at Home must clearly show the cost of each service delivered during standard business hours, calculated per unit of service.
Simplified, all inclusive pricing structure
Previously, under the former Home Care Packages program you were charged separate fees for administration costs associated with providing care services to you.
Under the new Support at Home program, the listed price for each service now includes those administration costs, making it easier for you to see exactly what you’re paying for
Care Management funding
Care management is now funded differently. Ten percent of your quarterly budget is allocated to providers for care planning and monitoring. You cannot be charged more than the 10% figure for care management, so you will always know what this fee will be.
Quality and accountability
If any part of your care is delivered by another supplier (called an associate provider under the new Act), Alpha Support at Home remains fully responsible for ensuring all services meet required standards. The new Act also states that every worker must comply with the Aged Care Code of Conduct and pass all necessary background checks.
The Aged Care Act 2024 changes have been designed to make aged care simpler, more transparent and focused on your needs. At Alpha Support at Home, we’re committed to helping you navigate these changes with confidence and ensuring you continue to receive the highest quality care.
