Assistive Technology and Home Modifications
Creating a home that is safe and accessible offers great freedom. It also offers your loved one’s tremendous peace mind.
Under Support at Home, the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications Scheme offers a range of supports including:
- Assistive technology: this incudes equipment or products that can help you to do things more easily. Examples include walking sticks, walking frames, wheelchairs and shower chairs. This can also include services delivered by health professionals (such as advice and wrap around services).
- Home modifications: this can include grab rails in the shower/bathroom, internal/external handrails, ramps and stair lifts, widening doorways and passages (e.g., to allow for wheelchair access) and bathroom redesign (e.g., changing the layout to improve accessibility).
